Hello St. Mary's Community Members,

A reminder to all customers that fertilizers, high-nitrogen chemicals, and other concentrated lawn, agricultural, or industrial products must NEVER be discharged into the wastewater system. Our wastewater treatment facility is designed to treat normal residential wastewater—not concentrated chemicals or nutrient-rich products. Excessive nitrogen and other contaminants can disrupt the biological treatment process, damage equipment, increase operating costs, and potentially place the District in violation of state and federal discharge requirements.

Do NOT dispose of the following by pouring them into sinks, toilets, floor drains, or other sewer connections:

• Liquid or granular fertilizers
• Nitrogen-rich plant nutrients
• Agricultural chemicals
• Hydroponic nutrient solutions
• Concentrated cleaning or treatment chemicals
• Any chemical or substance not intended for normal household wastewater disposal

These products must be disposed of according to the manufacturer's instructions or through an approved household hazardous waste or recycling program. If you are unsure whether a product may be discharged into the sanitary sewer system, please contact the District before disposing of it at 720-722-3692 or smgwsd.operations@gmail.com

Improper disposal places unnecessary costs on the entire community. As a result, those found to be disposing of these products into the system may face pentalty actions, including recovery of damages, fines, or other enforcement actions as authorized by the District's Rules and Regulations.
