UPDATE #4: Winterland water outage
Hello St. Mary's Community Members,
The pumps have been turned back on! There are a few things to note:
- It will take some time for the pipes to refill. Homes on the southern end of Winterland will see water/pressure first, and it will gradually move up the mountain. Please be patient as it reaches your home.
- You may experience air or sediment when you first turn on your water. This is normal. For air, simply allow your fixtures to run until the air has passed and you get a normal stream. If you experience sediment, flush your system through a cold water fixture that does not have an aerator (e.g. hose bib, cold water bathtub faucet) until it runs clear. This will help keep sediment from getting in your water heater and sink aerators.
- We have to continuously monitor the situation to ensure that water quality standards are met. Over the next few hours and days this could mean turning off the pumps intermittently to allow the storage tank to maintain the minimum required level. These outages should last only a few hours. We will put out notifications when/if these short-term outages are to occur.
- The hose bib at the Metro building (463 Silver Creek Rd) is still available for anyone needing to fill bottles or buckets.
Thank you all again for your patience with this process.
